WorldnNewsUnique.Com, Indonesia - An entertainment venue located within the Danau Toba Hotel in Medan caught fire, prompting hotel guests to flee as thick smoke billowed from the roof.
According to information gathered, smoke began rising around 5:50 PM local time. Flames quickly engulfed the roof of the hotel’s condominium area.
“They said the fire started in the kitchen—possibly due to a gas leak,” said Suhardi, a local resident who was at the scene on Friday (May 30, 2025).
The Acting Head of Medan’s Fire and Rescue Department, Muhammad Yunus, stated that they received the fire report at 5:52 PM. Nine fire trucks were immediately deployed to the location.
“The initial source was the condominium at Danau Toba Hotel,” he said.
According to Yunus, it took approximately 90 minutes to extinguish the flames. The fire was difficult to contain due to the flammable materials within the building.
“The area that burned was an entertainment venue. We faced challenges in putting out the fire because of the highly combustible materials inside,” he explained.
Yunus confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries resulting from the incident.
“As of now, there are no reports of casualties or injuries. We deployed around nine fire units to handle the situation,” he said.
The blaze at Danau Toba Hotel caused a stir among motorists passing along Imam Bonjol Street in Medan that afternoon. Thick smoke could be seen rising high, blanketing the surrounding traffic area.
Several motorists, including both motorcyclists and car drivers, pulled over near the hotel to observe the scene on Imam Bonjol Street.
